I will be speaking September 10 at the Lovettsville Historical Society, in Lovettsville, Virginia, at 2 p.m. The title of my presentation, ‘A Tale of Two Raids,’ refers to Jeb Stuart’s Christmas Raid in December 1862 and the mysterious raid the Federals thought he planned to make in the spring or summer of 1863, as part of the Gettysburg Campaign. I will discuss the relationship between the two events, as well as my thoughts on Southern intentions regarding the ‘phantom raid’ of 1863, and how the idea impacted not only the Gettysburg Campaign but also controversial events in 1864.
I discuss these events in my book Chasing Jeb Stuart and John Mosby, The Union Cavalry in Northern Virginia from Second Manassas to Gettysburg. I have updated the presentation considerably, however, since publication of the book in 2012.
I hope to meet some of you there and will have copies of both books for sale.
For more information, please check the Lovettsville Historical Society website here.
And, for those of you who prefer the convenience of audio books, Small but Important Riots will be available as an audio book on September 26, “across 60+ retail and library digital distributors, including Audible, Apple, audiobooks.com and Google Play.”
Bob, Will the audiobook be abridged?
I hope not. But, any port in a storm.

To my knowledge, Tom, the narrative in the audio version will be exactly the same as the print version.

Great!!
I haven’t bought an audio book since they were CDs. If these can be searched, like by chapters, they should be great to have when visiting the battlefields.
